Alpe D’Huez is a consistent top ten French resort with a lot to offer everybody. It’s high, it has it’s own small glacier, it’s got an excellent ski area of 220+km, it’s got some excellent nightlife and it’s easy to get to. As a result it’s actually one of those rarities, a resort that you can’t find much to fault. It’s not a truly purpose built resort and yet you are always close to a lift or the pistes. It has some excellent restaurants, plenty of shops, a good range of bars and some quirky clubs.
It has the pre requisite snowboard park with all the toys and to top it all it’s very reasonably priced which makes it a bit of a no brainer. Accommodation wise we have our own incredibly well located “Auberge” residence which is situated right on the slopes and within 10 metres of the nearest lift, It’s a ski too and from location and have our own very bubbly “Yeti Bar” for great food and drinks deals, located downstairs.
The accommodation we have in Alpe D’Huez is similar to Tignes in that it is all well located apartment accommodation and it best caters for those looking for budget to mid range stuff. The resort has a good feel to it and the terrain will keep all ability levels more than happy. It’s ideal for big and small groups alike and price wise it comes in strongly for those wanting a high quality resort at an exceptional price. Again, it’s hard to fault and with Grenoble airport only an hour and a half away as well, transfers are short and easy. It’s a winner!
